Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP seeks an experienced attorney to join its highly ranked globally recognized Environmental and Climate Change practice group as a non-partnership track attorney based in our Washington, DC or Richmond, VA office. An attorney in this position will be benefits eligible and will generally have an expected billable hour goal of between 1200 – 1800 hours, with the specific expectation aligned with the qualified applicants’ career objectives. This is a great opportunity for an experienced attorney to work on high profile and cutting edge matters in the context of a reduced workload arrangement. A flexible work location arrangement is possible for the right candidate.

Qualified applicants will have at least six years of US or international experience with environmental, natural resource, climate change, product stewardship and/or sustainability matters. The ideal candidate will have experience with those issues in multiple contexts, including compliance counseling, obtaining regulatory authorizations, agency rulemaking, facility and corporate audits, supply chain due diligence, citizen suits, enforcement defense or litigation.

The Environmental and Climate Change practice group prides itself in forming diverse teams with a wide array of personal and professional attributes. We value collaboration and a team-based approach. As a member of the Environmental and Climate Change practice group, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on interesting, long-term projects with established clients. The ideal candidate will be interested in direct client contact, mentoring junior attorneys, and assisting with the management of matters and client relationships.

A successful candidate is dedicated to the practice of environmental law, has self-motivation, strong intellectual curiosity, good judgment, responsiveness, perseverance, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Active membership in the DC or VA bar or the ability and willingness to waive into the DC or VA bar is required.
