WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a Assistant General Counsel, Legal Innovation & Strategic Initiatives.

This role will help us move faster, innovate faster and improve efficiency of our team through the development of innovative ways to process, people, policy and tools to unlock more from our very hardworking CAO team. It will also help us drive vital innovative and strategic change across the CAO and company.


YOU WILL HAVE:
- Excellent legal transactional skills.

- The ability to analyze policies, process and data to identify key trends and then apply that knowledge to developing solutions addressing key risks and issues.

- Strong analytical skills and experience with complex data sets and fact patterns with ability to quickly spot key trends emerging from the data and landscape to help advise practical solutioning.

- The ability to drive from an ambiguous situation to an insightful analysis and solution and support the streamlining and standardization of processes, policies, standards and approaches. Comfort with technology is strongly preferred.

- A high degree of emotional intelligence to be effective on a cross functional, global team within a complex, matrixed organization.

- The ability to cultivate a diverse and broad workplace culture, while simultaneously unleashing, inspiring, and maximizing the full potential of all organizational talent.


WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
You will work on:

- Helping drive the implementation and adoption of legal innovations with an initial focus on delivering Nike Contracts, which will support the contracting capability across the enterprise, integrating solutions among tools, process, people, policy, content and data

- Helping drive efficiency-based initiatives, ensuring that Legal serves the Business at speed, while effectively managing risks and unlocking opportunities

- Be a driver of Strategic Initiatives across the CAO, including its Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Pro Bono programs

- Delivering a digital transformation of the Nike Legal team


WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
Nike is a matrixed, global organization and this role will require a high degree of coordination and comfort working across all dimensions of the organization, with a focus on working closely with the Global, Regional, and Converse Legal teams, the CAO Operations team, Global Technology, the Global Contracting Office (“GCO”), Controlling (Accounting), Finance, Procurement, Human Resources and Compliance teams.


WHAT YOU BRING
- Law degree from an accredited US university or equivalent in other jurisdictions

- Member, in good standing, of at least one U.S. state bar or a foreign equivalent, and, if not already a member in good standing in the Oregon state bar, a commitment to seek membership in the Oregon state bar within the first 6 months of joining the Legal team.

- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in the practice of general business law with a major law firm and/or corporate legal department; with a significant focus on sophisticated commercial transactions required; experience with employment law, intellectual property, privacy or anti-bribery/anti-corruption preferred

- Proven, robust international experience is preferred

- Excellent English (written and spoken) language skills, proficiency in additional languages is a plus
