In this role, you will serve as legal counsel to the Bank, the Boards of Directors of the head office and three branches, and to all officers and departments on legal matters affecting the Bank. You will conduct complex, independent research and analysis, including interpreting case law, statutes, and regulations to provide guidance to others in conducting Bank operations, determining compliance with applicable law, handling outside litigation, and reviewing and drafting contracts and other legal documents.
Conducts legal research and analysis on litigation and administrative law proceedings involving the Bank and if necessary handles litigation and administrative law proceedings.
Advises Supervision and Risk Management staff and management on issues concerning compliance with banking laws and regulations by financial institutions.
Conducts independent research and analysis, including interpreting case law, statutes, and regulations to determine compliance with applicable law.
Drafts or reviews legal documents affecting Bank operations.
Reviews requests for proposals and contracts under which the Bank acquires goods and services.
Advises on tax issues affecting the Bank.
Serves as appropriate on System subcommittees.
Conducts training on legal issues.
Performs other duties as assigned
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school required.
Licensed to practice law in a state, and commit to become licensed in Missouri as soon as practical.
General legal training and a broad knowledge of legal principles in a number of areas, typically gained through three or more years of relevant experience.
Litigation experience preferred, but not required.
Strong writing skills as demonstrated by law review membership or equivalent.
Ability to work independently with direction.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Incumbent must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless the Bank grants an accommodation based on a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief.
