Join the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), and its subsidiary agency (“NYCTA”) as a Labor Counsel in its Labor Relations Department and be an essential part of North America’s largest public transportation organization. MTA-NYCTA’s Labor Relations is a leader in labor relations nationally and in New York in so far as providing Legal representation, guidance, and support, which enables the Agency to effectively utilize its tens of thousands of both unionized and non-union represented workforce to achieve its goals of providing a safe and convenient public transit system for the people of New York.
We’re looking for a dynamic individual with strong advocacy skills, particularly in labor law, to represent the Agency’s interest at arbitration. In addition to being a strong advocate, the successful candidate must also have excellent communication skills, exceptional research and writing skills and have a passion for public service, to help us fulfill our commitment to keeping New York moving.
The Labor Counsel will also assist in developing collective bargaining strategies and participate in collective bargaining negotiations to ensure that contracts are negotiated within MTA Cost guidelines. Further, the successful candidate may be called upon to participate in Labor/Management meetings and address and resolve issues to avoid the need for grievances or litigation, while maintaining effective communications with unions.

Education and Experience:
Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials, NYS Bar Admission and license to practice law, maintained in good standing throughout employment. In addition, a minimum of six (6) years of legal experience with primary emphasis on litigation and/or labor relations is required.
