Position Summary: WASHBURN UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW invites applicants for two tenure-track positions, beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year. We are especially interested in candidates who have experience in property, real estate transactions, bankruptcy, housing law; contracts, secured/commercial transactions; remedies, arbitration, alternative dispute resolution, mediation; evidence; and professional responsibility. The selected candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing teaching excellence, including a dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage students from diverse backgrounds.
Washburn Law has a unitary tenure track with scholarship support including summer writing stipends, year-round research assistants, and funding for travel to conferences. These nine-month tenure-track positions are two of five open tenure/tenure-track positions in the School of Law.
Washburn University is a teaching-focused, student-centered, public institution located in the metropolitan setting of Topeka that has earned national recognition for its high-impact programs for first-generation students. Washburn has a student body of over 5,550 undergraduate, graduate, and law students, a significant and growing number of whom are first generation and Pell-Grant eligible. • The appointed hires will be responsible for fulfilling teaching expectations associated with a tenure-track appointment, teaching a full workload as outlined in the faculty handbook.

• JD degree from an ABA-approved law school or international equivalent.

• Record of practice, teaching, and/or scholarship in the areas of property, real estate transactions, bankruptcy, housing law; contracts, secured/commercial transactions; remedies, arbitration, alternative dispute resolution, mediation; evidence; and professional responsibility.
