Job Description

Position Summary: Washburn University School of Law invites applications for a two-year visiting assistant professor beginning August 1, 2024. We are especially interested in candidates who have experience teaching legal research and writing and are able to teach other courses as needed including but not limited to remedies, ADR, or professional responsibility. The selected candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing teaching excellence, including a dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage students from diverse backgrounds.

Essential Functions:
• Fulfill teaching expectations associated with a visiting assistant professor appointment. Teach a full workload of one first year legal writing course plus one additional course each semester.

Required Qualifications:
• JD degree from an ABA-approved law school
• The selected candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing teaching excellence at Washburn University, including a dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage students from diverse backgrounds.
Official transcripts required at time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Record of teaching legal research and writing.
• Record of teaching other courses as needed including but not limited to remedies, ADR, or professional responsibility.
