The University of Virginia School of Law seeks to add a Director to its Office of Private Practice. The Office of Private Practice assists students and alumni in all aspects of the search for legal jobs in the private sector and has achieved results that rank at the top of national law schools. This is a new position that will add to the office’s team of experienced legal practitioners (the Office’s counselors have over 39 years of practice experience and over 30 years of career counseling experience). The Office is staffed by a positive, collaborative team that enjoys the process of innovating to meet change. We seek a person with similar strengths and proclivities.
Specific duties of this Director position include:
The Director reports to the Senior Assistant Dean, Career Development and works under the direction of the Senior Director, Office of Private Practice.
A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school is required. At least two years of firm practice experience is required; at least three years of firm practice experience is preferred. Additional experience as a practicing lawyer, in legal recruiting, or in a student services role in higher education is preferred. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal, project management, writing, and communication skills; a positive and outgoing demeanor; the ability to work diligently and efficiently in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment; and proficiency with standard office software.
