An Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney is primarily responsible for handling day to day prosecution of cases in District Courts and Circuit Court that are not otherwise assigned, including trials of a wide variety of misdemeanors and felony cases, preliminary hearings, motions dockets, and appeals, as well as serving as "Duty CA" and responding to calls and questions from citizens, police officers and defense attorneys at the front desk. Duties include attending trainings and ride-alongs with police officers and engaging in public activities to connect as active members with the community we serve.

The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate degree and a strong interest in Criminal law. Some experience as a criminal prosecutor or criminal defense is preferred. Must be a member of the Virginia State Bar in good standing. Criminal prosecution/defense experience desired but not a requirement.
