Appointed by and serving at the pleasure of the City Council, the City Attorney provides expert legal counsel, executive leadership, and management of the City’s legal functions. Reporting directly to the City Council, the City Attorney advises the Council, City Manager, elected officials, boards and commissions, and City departments on complex, sensitive, and high-impact matters involving municipal and public law. The position requires exceptional legal expertise, sound judgment, political acumen, and the ability to provide clear, practical counsel while navigating competing interests and a wide range of legal and policy considerations.
