Description
The Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law's seeks two full-time Clinical Associate/Professors of Law at the rank of Associate/Full Instructional Professional starting in the 2027-28 academic year to join the #1 ranked Legal Method and Writing program in the country. Both entry-level and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.

The Legal Method and Writing Program is an integral part of the JD program at ASU Law. The program is designed to ensure practice-ready students who are well-equipped to succeed in their legal careers. The Legal Method and Writing Program includes two required first-year courses and a varied selection of upper-level elective legal writing courses. Clinical Associate/Professors of Law in the Legal Method and Writing Program are expected to teach analytical, research, writing, and oral communication skills, create assignments and courses, and engage in professional and service activities. Although legal scholarship is not a requirement of the positions, scholarship may be considered in the candidate's favor under Faculty Bylaw I(C).

Legal Method and Writing Program positions offer a professional environment with job security that exceeds the requirements of ABA Standard 405(c and d). The positions are full-time, benefits-eligible, and offer support for professional development. An entry-level appointment would be as a probationary academic professional on track to continuing status under the rank of Associate Instructional Professional with the business title of Associate Clinical Professor of Law. An experienced candidate meeting the law college's criteria for continuing status may be eligible for an appointment with continuing status under the business title of Clinical Professor of Law. Essential Functions:

- Teach JD-level students analytical, research, writing, and oral communication skills necessary for effective law practice.
- Create in-class exercises, memorandum assignments, and motion assignments.
- Provide substantial individualized feedback, consisting of extensive written comments on student papers and frequent conferences with students.
- Design first-year and upper-level legal writing and analysis classes.
- Serve on law school committees and projects at the dean's request.
- Participate in professional activities. This may take the form of giving scholarly presentations, publishing in professional journals or other publications, serving on committees or in leadership roles in professional organizations, or other activities as appropriate to the professional community.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to advance the principles of access, excellence, and impact in the ASU charter.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

- A JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school;
- At least two years of experience in law practice or in teaching law to JD students;
- Outstanding legal writing and analysis.

Desired Qualifications:

- Strong general writing skills.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
- Experience teaching legal method and writing to JD students at a fully accredited law school.
- A strong academic record.
- Potential for professional contributions and interpersonal collaboration.
